It's hard to believe The Black Parade turns 20 this year. Released on October 23, 2006, this album has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember. Like a lot of people who grew up listening to My Chemical Romance, it's one of those albums that never really left me.
With the 20th anniversary coming up, I figured it was the perfect excuse to finally bring a photoshoot inspired by it to life. I wanted to incorporate some of the iconic imagery from the album while still keeping things true to my photography style. The marching band uniform, snare drum, tattered black flag, and skeletal details were all little nods to the album and its story.
There's something about The Black Parade that still holds up all these years later. The music, the theatrics, the storytelling, and all the little details that make it such a memorable album. I don't think teenage me would have expected to be standing in a Minnesota field 20 years later, dressed like a member of the Black Parade, but here we are. Here's to 20 years of an album that never really gets old.
We'll carry on. 🖤
